The State Libraries and AI Technologies Working Group is a joint project of 17 state libraries to understand the opportunities, challenges, and risks associated with AI and the library sector. The six-month initiative began in May 2024 and concludes in mid-December. A summative gathering is planned to celebrate and summarize this collaborative community of practice.

Q1: Going forward, what kinds of communication do you want? (select all that apply)

Q2: What additional communication channels do you suggest?

  • I have liked the slack channel, maybe discord, or trello?
  • A more informal chat space, maybe something that can facilitate announcements, text chat, attachment sharing and group voice calls. Have used Discord/Google Chat for this but open to anything.
  • I do find the newsletter helpful too!
  • Monthly-ish roundtable sessions could perhaps be less frequent (every other month or quarterly?)
  • In-person meet-ups at conferences or other venues that many of us might be attending.
  • In person meet ups when many of us might be at conferences and events
  • Any or all of the above could be helpful, I think just general reminders to connect and check in with the group would be helpful.
  • Monthly Zoom sharing
